Rita's Aug 2017...8 Maids A-Milking

I'm so glad I'm stitching these from the PS leaflet 12 Days of Christmas!  I'd been meaning to stitch the days individually for ornaments (for years!) and this sal is the perfect opportunity to do it.  Also, the hardest part for me is to choose a design in the theme, so stitching these makes that a breeze.

Happy stitching, all!

Fabric: 28ct Jobelan "Gold Digger" - Colour Cascade Fabrics
Threads: Jodryi Designs (Wuthering Heights, Sense & Sensibility, The Olde Curiousity Shoppe, Midnight Hour)

I'm back!  Finally got back on blogger to show you the next block (or 2) of my version of 12 Days of Christmas by Plum Street Samplers.  June and July are both now completed.  I do need to get back to August before the month is out....

Unfortunately the photo above doesn't really show the blocks up that well.  The colours look stunning in real life... I will have to try and get a better picture when I come back to post August!

Til then, happy Christmas stitching

July - 7th Day of Christmas

                                                                   7  Swans-a-swimming

                                                                                  Designed by Margaret Sherry

This month I have the pleasure of introducing a lovely lady representing
our lovely swans.  She loves to swim, and is modeling the latest equipment
that are a must at the pond.
I decided that she needed a little bling, which I added to her swim cap.
Stitching her was a joy. The colors are wonderful!  I of course changed
the backstitch colors.  I rather like seeing the darker accent color, rather
than what was charted.  I'm enjoying making these ladies my own.

My version of Margaret Sherry's  7th Day of Christmas.

                                                                       The charted version

She is pretty stitched either way.

Up next month is another pretty lady representing all those Maids-a-milking.
See you all next month. Until then:
May your needles fly, and the frogs stay away!

Gwen: July 12 Days

What a wonder. I was able to complete the stitching on 2 ornaments this month. I stitched 'Doves' and 'Hens' from Hands on Design's 12 Days.

12 Days, Hands on Design

Since taking this picture I've done the back stitching on Hens. Just need to add my initials and the year and it's ready for finishing.

FYI: I don't know if there is an errata page on  Cathy's  blog/website. But the symbol for the HENS wings on  the printed chart is wrong. It's charted as DMC 738, based on the photograph it should be WDW Grits.

Progress shots.   I have been working on on two samplers during July.  Why - because I could fit them both plus charts and threads, etc into one zipper bag.   A couple of days ago, I decided enough.  I wanted something different in the rotation.  I pulled a canvas piece out of the priority bag.

This is not a progress shot per se.  This is where I left off last time on I worked on it.

Sorry for it being so faint.
The real colors are not that faint.

Hopefully now I will get back on track.

What posted yesterday was supposed to be on my blog

How it got here I am not sure.  My ornaments are in various stages of not finished.  They are in my priority bag.  I'll keep you updated.

Saturday, 29 July 2017

I know it's been awhile since I posted.  Life has been busy.   We started July with getting the house interior painted.  Things did not go as scheduled.  There were delays then cancellations and then suddenly back to almost the original schedule.  This is what we loved with while getting things done.

This is only downstairs.  The chaos was worse upstairs.

When we had some yard work done for us earlier in June, there was a mishap with the siding.  After checking with contractors, etc, we found one who could get the job done.  Only there were numerous delays for one reason or another and several rainy days.

The tap is covering up the holes made by a commercial weed eater.  Overall we ended up with replacing 4 panels.  However, our color is no longer made.  But the good news is that they painted the new panels to our color.  After it dried for a day, you couldn't even tell they had to replace panels. Yeah!

Painting also made us realize it was time to clean  up and out.
I have a large wicker basket in the family room where I keep needlework
(as well as in the basement on shevles, etc).
I had to empty the basket in order to move it and then ended up sorting thru everything.

Now to the progress

This is filled with Halloween charts to be stitched.

This is the bag of priorities.

Almost ready to moved to the center and covered in plastic.

The painting got done and the long tasks of putting back is still underway.
As we put back we are making "give away / donate" piles.
We have also found things that seem to have disappeared.
Meanwhile I am still in search of my "Needleworker's home" chart.
It is still AWOL.

Last week, the computer went down.  We decided it was the power cord and went on the hunt.
A call to Dell offered no help - none in stock.
Tried one local store only to discover it was out of business.
and finally one store that we stumbled across had the cord.
Better yet, a sales person who knew what he was talking about and full
of helpful hints.  Did you know that the led lights indicating power often
go out long before the power cord dies?  True.
Now I am back an up and operating.

Tomorrow - progress shots.

Cheryl's July Animal Ornament

This is "Precious Puppy" from the book "100 Cross-Stitch Christmas Ornaments" by Carol Siegel.  I am finding lots of fun ornaments to stitch in this book, which also includes several finishing methods & ideas.

I stitched on a small piece of fabric that was marked "Davos 18ct".
Happy Christmas in July!

Khristine's July Dove

Hello guys!

My "ornament" this month was a quick one but took me all month to finish for one reason or another.  It seemed like every day it came up in my rotation I only had time for a few stitches.  Just that time of year I guess.

Here is the whole project so far.

Happy Stitching!

Mary's July Christmas Kitty

Here is my July ornament: Cat in the Box from Mill Hill!
I just love Mill Hill ornaments, and I like this one especially because my cat Kiwi is an orange tabby.

I have really been enjoying this group this year and am also thrilled I will have a bunch of new ornaments for my tree! Thanks for your kind comments!

Serendipitous Jo's July's Seven Swans-a-Swimming

I'm over half-way with the 12 Days of Christmas design now and I'm making great progress on the header and border too.  I am sure I can finish this design this year which would be awesome!

July is for Swans, just one again:

Here's where I was last month:

And here's where I am now, you can see I stitched nearly all the left hand border and did a good part of the left hand angel too:

Mary's Noel for June

Here's my "words" ornament, Noel by Sandra Longan of Log Cabin Needleworks. It was a freebie on Sandy's blog. She has another one called Merry Christmas that is equally nice. I changed the colors, using Dried Thyme and Cranberry from Gentle Arts and put little red beads on for the berries. I think the fabric is 28 ct platinum.

This is such a versatile and quick stitch, I can see it looking beautiful with so many other colors! I will definitely be making this one again!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my previous entries! I did skip May but my July is already to post as soon as we turn the calendar page! :) If you want to see it early, check out my blog!

June - 6th Day of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas
 Margaret Sherry

Our next beautiful lady is the 6th Day of Christmas, representing 6 Geese - a - laying.  Isn't she lovely!  I adore the color used, they are some of my favorite.  With shades of Lavender, Violet, Blue Green, and Green Blue.  She also has shades of Antique Blue, Pumkin, and Copper.  Along with her gorgeous White.

I've been feeling better.  Years ago I tried Naproxin for my migraine like my Doctor suggested.  Boy was that a joke.   I wasn't sure that it would help with my Fibromyalgia.  After a lot of reading, I gave it another try.  It has helped a lot!  It may take a couple of hours to feel well enough to start moving, but it has been worth it.  I was able to stitch this little lady up quickly.

As my usual, I change some charted color.
I used a Very Dark Lavender for the number,.  With Very Dark Violet to outline it, and to stitch my letters.  They came out so well that I really feel a need to change the outline, and lettering color on my 5 Gold Rings. It needs to be darker.
I used White, and Ultra Light Antique Blue to stitch my goose. Very Dark Turquoise was used to make her lovely outline.
Pale Pumkin, and Medium Light Topaz were used in the bill and feet.  Copper was used to outline them, making these stand out.
Medium Aquamarine, and Light Seagreen were used for her colorful eggs.  Outlined in Very Dark Blue Green really made these pop.  Aren't they gorgeous!

I am excited about next months Lady.  I have no idea what changes will be made, but she will be a beauty.

Rita's June 6 Geese A-Layin'

I've been model stitching lately but took a few breaks from the model to stitch my June block.  Appropriately, the other night I took it down to sit by our lake where we have geese to finish this block.  We used to have a pair of Canadian geese.  Sadly a year or so ago one of the pair died but this year the remaining Canadian goose mated with a brown goose and there were 3 eggs.  2 hatched but some animal killed one of the babies.  The surviving baby has now grown almost as big as its mama.  They are so fun to watch swimming together on the lake!

June - Christmas Words/Phrases

Hello everyone!

I have finished my Christmas word for this month.  I thought it fit because what other time of the year do you say "Candy Cane"?

And here is the whole project.  I could not get my helper here to leave me alone while I took the picture.  He is lucky he is cute!

Thank you all so much for all the kind comments you leave me on my posts!

Happy Stitching!

Well best laid plans to come back and post in May went right out the window!  I did however get Day 4 and Day 5 finished in May and I have now started Day 6.
I decided to add a bit of gold highlight on the gold rings on Day 5 by doing a half stitch over the top of the full cross stitch in gold petite treasure braid.  The picture doesn't show it up though.

See you again soon (I hope!), til then happy stitching! 😄
